Gilbert Temple Cultural Celebration

I never thought that I could gain so much love for others. This experience has allowed me to feel the lord’s true gift of Charity. I was the ward secretary and enjoyed every minute of being on the lord’s errand. I took this calling on in the busiest moment of my life (not that I knew that at the time) but I was so happy that I did. It never crossed my mind that I didn’t have time or that I should pass up the opportunity. I was too excited to think of anything else. It was in my youth that I gained my testimony through the strength of my leaders who served me everyday; their sacrifice of time, their testimony, and love did not go unnoticed. I never understood how or why they did what they did, even though I appreciated it. I think this experience was so touching to me because my leaders had such an impact on my life. I can only hope that I helped one of the kids know how much they are loved and that the gospel is key to having happiness in life. Over the last few months I have learned that the Lord knows what I am capable of and He will provide the way. My precious time is the Lord’s time and he would have me spending it in service of my fellow men. The covenants that I made in the temple have a deeper meaning to me and I understand them more fully. I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve.
One moment that touched my heart was when our youth were in a circle, all crowed together, with no leaders. I leaned in to listen and over heard them having a ward prayer for a good performance with no injuries. They thanked the Lord for the rain and prayed for the rain to go away if it was His will. Our youth were so united that night keeping each other warm, encouraging each other to go on, to sing and dance their hearts out. I know that the youth felt the spirit that night and it is etched on their hearts. The celebration was perfect!
