Love being a kid

Today I remembered what it was like to be a kid. We were driving down the road and Zoey said, "Hey mom that truck driver just waved at me". I told her to do the "truckers horn" motion and just as I showed her the trucker tugged on his horn. Zoey's face lit up and had a smile from ear to ear. Then she did it and the trucker honked his horn again. Zoey was so excited! It's the simple things in life that make kids happy. I remember going on family road trips and counting how many honks we could get from truck drivers. It entertained me for hours. I am glad that Zoey gets to experience those same simple joys.
So Thank You to all the truck drivers that create smiles all across America.

Birthing gift aka push gift

Some people have never heard of this and if you are female you are really missing out!
Birthing gift: A gift that is given to a woman that just had a baby or if you give it to her before the baby comes it is called a "push gift" typically given by the spouse.
You can't make this kind of thing up people!

For Zoey's birthing gift I got my right hand ring (a Ruby for July) and for Maggie I got a remote car starter. In Arizona this is going to be awesome! I can now turn my car on from 2,000 feet away by the click of a button! Way to go Brit on the birthing gifts!

Oh for those of you that have never had a birthing gift it's really a gift that you buy for yourself and your spouse can't argue about it or the price because you just gave them the most priceless gift in the world.

Who looks like who?

Zoey has such a big girl look it's frighting me! I think Zoey has Brit's eyes but the rest is all me. Maggie on the other hand she just looks a lot like Zoey but with dark hair.
Zoey took this picture of us

One more picture of Maggie because she is so darn cute

Missy May

You are six weeks today and you are an angel! You are starting to smile and it makes my heart melt; I love it! I like to call you Maggie May and Missy May but often times it's just Maggie. You like to take baths and Zoey likes to join you. Your hair is crazy and fun even without a bow. Your so precious and sweet I love to have you close to me. You are such a doll when you sleep, your favorite place is your bouncer. Last night Daddy caught you snoring and it was adorable! You never seem to sleep for Daddy so as of now you require your mother's touch to fall asleep. I'll admit I was sad you weren't a boy but now that I have you I know that girl's are just for me. I guess the saying still stands as "ladies always go first"!

I love you, Missy May!

What you don't see...

It's 11:05pm and church is at 8am
I'm procrastinating my homework and I have 3 assignments due tomorrow
I neglected the laundry and Brit finished it
Tonight's Gap purchase of $80
My floor that has not been swept in 2 weeks
I dread going to the library because I'm afraid I(Zoey) will loose a book
My body aches from uncomfortable nursing positions

Maggie's new pacifier

Popsie must taste good because she did this for a good 5 mins

Zoey loves her Daddy

Whenever we go to costco and Brit orders pizza he uses a knife to hold up the front end of the hot and sagggy slice of pizza. Zoey has caught on to this and now does the same!

Date Night

We splirged last weekend and went on a date to Ikea
Babysitting for Zoey at the Ikea play place- $0
Dinner for 2 of sweetish meatballs- $13
One item for the house- $11
It was a fun and Maggie slept the whole time

Would you like a sick deadly apple?

Zoey got an apple at the farmers market and on the way home she asked me if I wanted a sick deadly apple? I was confused so I asked questions. Zoey said I needed to take this sick deadly apple to the princess and she would get sick and die. Oh playing pretend is so much fun!

Once she saw I was taking pictures it all went silly!

Maggie's room

Is this cute or what?

I originally wanted to do vinyl dots but that was way too expensive

I made my own circle template out of poster board and then we spray painted the circles on.

Zoey's Breakfast

Need I say more...

These were both half full. I suppose, I should be grateful they were not full. How she got this for breakfast? That would be me sleeping in while Maggie slept. It's my own fault I guess. It would have taken me much longer to figure it out because she put both of the EMPTY containers back in their perfect little spots. However, when asked what she had for breakfast she excitingly confessed. I gave her a small punishment without laughing but then we laughed about it the rest of the day.

Our lessons that we learned today
-Tell the truth and our punishments are not as bad
-If I want to sleep in, a sweet breakfast might be the price that I pay

This is her when I made her eat an egg for her breakfast dessert!

Memorial Day

We painted Maggie's room on Memorial day and for a break I made this cake. Our neighbor across the street is in the military so we took it over and enjoyed it together. In return they fed us dinner. The cake was better than I expected! It's from Barefoot Contessia, I made a box cake and then used her frosting recipe it was super yummy! Zoey loves playing across the street with her FRIENDS because when she goes over there it is like an instant party...they are triplets. I am still not brave enough to invite them over here so we mostly hang out outside or at their house.

As for Maggie's room we are just doing the finishing to be posted soon.

I read the talk given by President Uchtdorf that was given to the brethren in the priesthood session. I always like reading the priesthood talks because I feel like I am ease dropping on a secret talk that I am not "allowed" to hear. I really enjoy listening to President Uchtdorf's talks mainly because he always has some aviation analogy and it allows me to really understand the point he is trying to make.

I am grateful for the aviation experience that I had because it really taught me that I need to follow the rules(in some situations) otherwise it might cost me my life. I think with the gospel it is the same way if you are off by one degree you will slowly drift off course and it may cost you your life.

Here are the points that I pulled from the talk
-Patience is a purifying process that refines understanding, deepens happiness, focuses action, and offers hope for peace
-Patience is far more than simply waiting for something to happen, patience requires actively working toward worthwhile goals and not getting discouraged when results don't appear instantly or without effort
-Patience means actively waiting and enduring
-Patience is not simply enduring; it is enduring WELL
-Patience is a godly attribute that can heal souls, unlock treasures of knowledge and understanding, and transform ordinary men and women into saints and angels.
-Patience is truly a fruit of the Spirit.
-Patience is being willing to submit to all things which the lord seeth fit to inflict upon us(Mosiah 3:19)
-Patience is a PROCESS of perfection, continue in patience until ye are perfected (D&C 67:13)

So as my capacity for patience is increasing I know that it is a perfecting process that I must experience. Through these "waiting" experiences I will be able to grow and become a bit more godly.

It's official

I know I have been trying to do this for the past 2 years and some of you might not believe me but I have officially quit the GAP. My longest tenure with one company. Employment length: 5 years 4 months

A better week

This week has been much better in regards to parenting Zoey. We started swimming lessons, the library summer reading program and implemented RULES! Swimming and reading library books have been a life saver. It helps to get out of the house and allow her to expel some energy. We made a few list of rules that I love! First I made a rule then Zoey did and it turned out great! Here they are...
Me- You can't be in the same room as me when I'm feeding Maggie (she finds ways to annoy me)
Zoey- We need to play more games
Me- Cleaning up will happen everyday and we both have to help
Zoey- We need to have patients...LOL
Me- We both need to listen to each other
Zoey- We need to have lots of fun

A the beginning of the week Zoey refused to clean her room so I did and ALL of her toys were taken away. I told her she could earn them back and it took her 4 days to decide that she would earn them back. She vacuumed her room to get Mr. Frog back. She cleaned the windows and mirrors to get her princess table and chairs back. She scrubbed the toilets to get her Tinkerbell light back. And she has yet to vacuum my car to get her tea set and dress up stuff back. I have to say I like taking her toys away because I did not have to clean everything. Zoey thought cleaning was lots of fun so this might be a good thing. I am going to start giving her more chores!

Zoey's Favorite Song

Miss Orange LOVES the song by Kesha called Your Love is my Drug. Every time it starts to play on the radio she instantly recognizes it at HER SONG and requests for it to be played loud! Which is fine by me because I like the song too. Zoey sings, "julep, julep is my drug" instead of "your love, your love is my drug". I have advised her of the actual lyrics but she says she likes julep better. And so it is "Julep is my Drug" that we rock out to.
